WORKS HAVE BEEN DONE IN 2008

There were two sets of shrimp samples collected from Bac Lieu and Camau province.
(i) Regarding samples from disease outbreak, shrimp samples have been collected from 3 systems- improved-extensive system, rice-shrimp system, semi-intensive system. In 2006, the samples were taken from 10ponds in Bac Lieu province and from 10 ponds in Camau province. The collection of samples continued in 2008, with disease shrimp being collected from 11 ponds in Vinh Loi, Hong Dan, Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province and from 12 ponds in Dam doi, Thoi Binh, Tran Van Thoi, Camau Town, Camau province
(ii) For the longitudinal study: shrimp samples and wild crustaceans were collected 3 times from ponds in Camau province (9 in Thoi Binh district and 20 in Cai Nuoc district) in the improved-extensive system from August to December, 2008

Currently, these sets of samples are being analysed. Three different methods are being put into use – the nested PCR; H&E; and PCR-genotyping. In addition, The PCR genotyping protocol (ORF125, ORF75) has been applied and optimised in the CTU laboratory.
